小倩的明星梦 i want to be a star

　　小倩最喜欢逗留的地方，是衣柜中那块又长又大的镜子，一站在那镜前，她就不想离开了-不是吗？镜中的少女简直就像那两个红得发紫的明星Twins，水灵灵的眼珠子会说话，脸颊白里透红，像水果摊上的水蜜桃。「为甚么别人能当明星？我不能当？」她常想。　Sandy just loved to see herself in the mirror. Her favourite was the full-length mirror on the wardrobe door. She would stand there for long hours admiring her own reflection - just look at that face! Beautiful, bright eyes, apple cheeks, the fairest of skins! She was quite convinced that she was prettier than Britney Spears, and she used to say, "If she can become a star, why can't I?"

　　「要是我是一个明星，那多风光啊！街上的人都认识我，找我签名，找我合照留念，甚至去餐厅吃牛排，也给我打个折头，甚至不要我给钱，我还可以穿各种各样的衣服，每天都漂漂亮亮的像个公主……」　"If I become a star, how wonderful it will be! Everybody in the street would know me. They would come up to me to ask for autographs. They would want to take pictures with me. If I go into a restaurant for dinner, I would have a big discount, or even need not pay. I can wear all kinds of beautiful clothes, and look as pretty as a princess every day......" and Sandy dreamt on.

　　说来也巧，小倩有一天被星探发现，请她做一个牙膏产品的模特儿，电视台的人看中了她，很快，她就在青少年节目中上镜，不算是红得发紫，但在学校、朋友中，她已显得十分瞩目，真的像一个小明星了。　她也真的享受了无数赞赏的话儿，无数羡慕的眼光。可是，烦恼也跟?来了。她的好朋友阿芝，不知不觉中就疏远了她。　Well, as luck would have it, one day, Sandy was discovered by the star-spotters. She was invited to appear on a toothpaste ad. It caught the attention of the TV people and she was soon a regular in a junior show. She might not be a big star yet, but she was a celebrity in school and among her friends. 　At first, Sandy relished those moments of glory: admiring words, envious looks - she was in seventh heaven, except for the troubles that followed. First of all, it was her friend Jill. She seemed to have grown apart.

　　「阿芝，你好象不想跟我说话了。为甚么呢？」她问阿芝。　阿芝说︰「你这么出名，我要是老跟你在一块，别人以为我想沾你的光呢！」　要好的朋友是这样，不要好的同学就更糟糕。有一次她跟同学王冬妮为一件小事吵嘴，竟被娱乐记者在报纸上登了出来！她本来不是大明星，那件事儿也很小，由于那记者写得很吓人，说王冬妮几乎要自杀，「小倩险成凶手」的字句竟然也作了出来！弄得连校长也找她谈话！为了这件事，小倩气得几晚也睡不?觉，考试的成绩也给影响了。　"Jill, you don't want to talk to me now, do you? Why?" Sandy asked. 　"You're a celebrity now. If I stay with you, people might think I want to share in your limelight, too." Jill replied. 　Even best friends behaved like that, so one can imagine how those who were not best friends would act. She got into a squabble with a classmate, Toni, and the story went straight to the entertainment pages in the newspapers. Sandy was not any star, and the incident was also quite insignificant, but the reporter made up the story that Toni was so agitated she was going to commit suicide. "Sandy almost a murderer" were the exact words. This drew the attention of the Head of the school, who summoned Sandy to see him. Sandy was so mad with the whole brouhaha that she could not sleep for many nights, and it affected her performance in the school exam.

　　更烦恼的事，是她再也不敢跟男同学说话。有一次她仅仅跟同学大伟说了几分钟话，整间学校，甚至外边学校，都传出「小倩与男友大伟展开恋情」的「消息」，娱乐记者还跟踪追访大伟，大伟明明否认了，报纸仍然写「小倩与大伟双双否认，二人恋情扑朔迷离」的报道，让她哭笑不得。这一下子，连父母也「知道」了，对她说︰「倩女啊，你才十三岁，怎么就跟男孩子谈恋爱？」，之后语重心长的跟她说了许多。　What was even worse was that she dared not talk to the boys in her school anymore. She only talked to her classmate David once, and the whole school, even the other schools, was talking about 'Sandy and David going steady'. There were paparazzi tailing David and despite his absolute denial that anything like this had ever happened, there were still stories with headlines which read, "'We're just friends' - Sandy and David. But love is in the air!" Sandy was so embarrassed! This time, even Dad and Mom were convinced, too. They said, "But Sandy dear, you're only thirteen! How can you start dating and going steady at this young age?" and gave her a long lesson on this.

　　还有一件事让她尴尬得几乎想钻地底，那本有很重黄色意味的杂志，竟然把她内裤的颜色、款式都登了出来，说是「小倩的至爱底裤」。原来有一次她跟妈妈到商场选购内衣裤，被那本杂志的记者跟踪，她和妈妈离开后，那记者就找售货员买同样的内裤来拍照，于是「图文并茂」在杂志上刊登，让她哭了好几天！　小倩一气之下，再也不上电视台做节目了-她受够了。　不过，还有许多朋友同学仍然做?明星梦。当她劝她们的时候，有些人就大不以然的在她背后说︰「小倩被电视台『飞』了出来，她才说不想做明星！真是口不对心！」　真令小倩无言以对！　But that was not all. Another incident took place which made Sandy want to dig a hole in the ground and hide herself in it. It was like this: there was a magazine that was heavily into porn stories which wrote a feature article describing in detail what her underwear looked like - colour, style, everything. The caption under the picture was 'Sandy's favourite panty'. The truth of the incident was she and her mother went to a shopping mall to buy underwear. The reporter from that magazine tailed them and when Sandy and her mother left the shop, she immediately bought the same set to take back for photo shooting. The full story, with the rather embarrassing picture and caption, made her cry and cry for days. 　That was the last straw. So Sandy decided to quit. She had enough. 　But there were still many of her friends and classmates who wanted to be a star. When Sandy tried to dissuade them, they would sneer at her back and say, "She got kicked out by the TV stations, and now she said she would not want to be a star! Who does she think she wants to cheat?" Sandy was wordless with remarks like these, but what can she do?
